We arrived in Guatemala!
Had good, easy flights from San Antonio yesterday. (By the way, if you consider coming down, we'll help you find a good fare. We found the best fare from San Antonio in the US, to Tapachula, Mexico, just over the border from Guatemala where Santizos live.) Took AeroMexico - very new, clean planes, smooth flights.
Leo met us and helped us with our bags. We made a couple of stops - at Sam's Club, WalMart, a gas station, and a shoe store. Stopped to eat; had grilled steak, black beans (the favorite in Guatemala - it's actually hard to find pinto beans here!), a fresh cheese (which we couldn't eat because it's not pasteurized) with tortillas and a Gallo cerveza. Sat outside and talked a bit.
This morning awoke with roosters crowing, and a beautiful sunrise. Palm trees. I'll post pictures another time. Resting today, except for some overdue laundry we carried down with us!
