We absolutely treasured our four years in Guatemala. We have not one regret for having moved there. We had joy and wonderful experiences, we met friends that we will treasure forever. We have such marvelous stories we can recall and recount... forever!
We are now happily settled in Kansas City. We are in western Overland Park, and we attend Westview, an English congregation in Olathe. We are in an apartment with two bedrooms and two baths, and we even have a garage! Of course, we are in an apartment complex, but it is comfortable with lots of windows and a decent view of grass and trees.
Our apartment is filled with photos of Guatemala (and other travels) and mementos.
We have a great success in getting access to good medical care. What a relief! Bill had an injection of cortisone for his knees, and he now walks with almost no pain! Plus he is getting physical therapy to strengthen his muscles that have gotten weak from the pain he had. He is also addressing some other medical matters, as have I. Thank you, Medicare!
We brought our cat Jasmine back with us, so we get to watch her both in her snuggly moment and in her Crazy Cat moments! She brightens our days. I was pretty anxious about her traveling, but it really went perfectly. Now that the days are a little cooler, we go out on the patio here with her (and a spray bottle in case she tries to squeeze through the fence that bounds our patio).

The best part is that I've been able to get back in full-time service, and Bill has been able to increase his share too. I have (inherited) one Bible study and have prospects for several more. I have enjoyed opening the Bible to talk about important scriptures relating to our Kingdom hope and the promises of Jehovah. I am feeling so content and joyful.
It's been costly to move back too. We are amazed at the (high) prices here! Eeks. We had to replace things we'd sold (furniture, car, etc). But do we regret it? NOT A SECOND. Not a moment. Whatever the cost - we had such a fabulous time, we built a treasure of memories for a lifetime.
Have you thought about doing more, about moving to a foreign land? Don't hesitate! Do your research - then when you're ready, JUMP! Make the move! Or even just start with an exploratory trip. Don't hesitate. You will NEVER regret it!
We hope to go back to Guatemala, maybe in January when it's freezing here. We so look forward to our dear friends and beautiful Panajachel!
