A house rental as of December 1? Maybe!

I only have this apartment through December 1, so I went house-shopping for my next home.

I found a set of two houses that are in a quiet neighborhood, just a couple blocks from the lake, behind a locked gate.  They are made of adobe, and called "The Adobes".  The front house is a bit larger, the back house is smaller but similar and charming.

This is from in front of the front gate, looking toward the yard that is between the two houses.  At the back of this open area, there is a pizza/bread oven!  A large stone or brick oven, kind of beehive shape, about 5' high!

This looks back toward the back house, the smaller one.  You can see that the upper level of this house has a walk-out patio on the upper floor, above the kitchen!  Really pretty.

Here are some photos of the front house: 

As you pass through the foyer, this is the front of the living room.  There is a hexagonal window toward the gardens.  There is a fireplace below, and a slot above for the TV.

Turning left from where I took the above photo, there is a wood table and chairs, in the middle of the main living area.  On the right of the photo below there is another door, sliding patio door, to the gardens, with an overhanging shade above and patio.  Behind the table you see some stairs going to a loft area upstairs that could be used as a second bedroom or an office area, with nice views.  To the right of the stairs, there is a door to the main bedroom (which also has an exterior door to the patio, which you can kinda see here).

To the left of the stairs (in above photo), and straight ahead as you enter, is the kitchen.

A photo from the living room area, near that large table, toward the entry way.  Unremarkable, but a coat area.  The main entry door is to the left of this photo (where the light is coming from).

Photo below is the upstairs loft-type room.  They put two twin mattresses on the floor, but it could be a bedroom/office. Great windows all around, a lovely view of the trees. Can't quite see the lake, though!  (But, it's only about a block or two away!)

Behind the stairs, between the master bedroom and the bathroom, is a large walk-in, actually, walk-through, closet with built-ins!  You can walk from bedroom, through to the bathroom.

Bathroom. To the right of the bidet is a little door to the outside, with a wall (to adjacent house) just 3' away.  But, could have plants and outdoorsy feel without prying eyes!

Following are some photos of the other smaller house at the back of the property.  It has a little bit of an awkward layout, but is also charming and has some nice features. I didn't take as many pictures of that one, though!

THE SECOND HOUSE:

This is the kitchen.  The entry is as the immediate right, just out of camera range. You see a fireplace at the right, and then the small refrigerator and a cooktop.

This is looking from the bedroom area, toward the front and the kitchen area.  This is the odd thing about this house, that the stair/ladder to quite a large open room upstairs comes down right in the main bedroom area downstairs.  The room upstairs could be used as another bedroom or even two, but if someone stayed up there, they would need to go up and down via these stairs/ladder.  The single bed you see in this photo is fixed to the floor, I think, or at least has a base.  But I guess a curtain could be hung for some privacy!

This is a closet - on the right (out of camera range) were more built-in clothes racks.  Nice! 

So, I may make an offer this week on living here!
