A trip to Mexico for a few days

I took a trip to Tapachula, Mexico, in order to refresh my visa for 90 days.  I went with Natalie and Andy Perez, who live above me and needed to do the same.  Along the way, we saw some lovely sights.  I have just a few photos:

When we got to Tapachula, we immediately got in touch with some folks in an English congregation.  Since we just are starting an English congregation in Panajachel, we wanted to see if they could share any literature we could use in our teaching.  They were very generous! See photos below:

We had a nice trip there. We needed to stay for 72 hours, though the agent at the border said we could return on the third day, which was actually more like 48 hours, and still get the 90 day visa.

When we were on our way home, the agency said we'd have to wait about 4 hours, since the computers were down for maintenance!  (We wondered why they didn't do that in the evening when the border is closed instead of a busy Sunday midday, but apparently that wasn't likely to happen.)  But, they were able to make an exception and allow us through.

On the last leg of the trip, on the outskirts of a town, we were flagged by a driver of a passenger van who heard there were ladrones (robbers) on the road ahead.  He had pulled off.  These guys communicate with one another about road status, and they don't even slow down for ANYTHING ... except robbers!  So we waited behind him for a little bit, then when he left, we tore out behind him and stayed close!  We noted their hand signal to each other as well, indicating robbers (palm up and flexing fingers repeatedly, as in 'gimme gimme', then pointing at the road ahead - good signal to know!!!)  We got home with no problems, and were thankful to Jehovah for any help he provided!

It was good to get home, safe and sound!  These are my dozen roses I got for 10 quetzales - or about $1.25 (total)!
