As we were deplaning in Guatemala City a couple of weeks ago, I snapped this shot of a woman with her carryon bag balanced on her head!
Reminded me of a story my sister told. They had a Guatemalan woman staying with them in Des Moines Iowa in the 1990s as part of a group she was associated with, Women for Guatemala, to help women down here. Anyway, as she was leaving my sister's to go to her next stop. she walked through the Des Moines airport with her luggage balanced on her head also! Believe me, heads in Des Moines airport turned that day!
Our friends Andy and Rachel gave us these flowers when we got back. Calla lilies are super-cheap here (not to minimize the gift - just to say how wonderful it is to splurge painlessly on beautiful flowers).
And here is a picture of Andy crossing the river in the ministry. (We call her girl-Andy because there is another brother here called Andy, who is now boy-Andy!). And girl-Andy's family in Kansas uses this blog to see pictures of her, so, here you go!
Dear Nancy & Bill, THANKS so much for doing this blog, so we don't forget what Andy looks like :). You can't believe how it keeps us both from missing her so much. Wish we were there with you all. All the brothers & sister's here in Garnett love seeing and hearing about the ministry there. It is so encouraging and exciting to share these experiences you are enjoying. THANKS, the Stumps
