Spanish language

Living in Guatemala, it obviously really helps to speak Spanish - though you can survive without it, with occasional help from some of us here. We had been in a Spanish congregation for three years prior to moving, and I (Nancy) have been speaking at least some Spanish most of my life. However, here are a few of our favorite resources:

• SpanishDict.com - A great place to look up words quickly.  You can also subscribe to a "Word Of The Day", and you will get an email with a very useful word, including pronunciation and sample uses. 

• Podcast Coffee Break Español.  Download the podcast, which is an audio file, and listen and repeat the great lessons. We just LOVE this site!  (He has a cute Scottish accent - and also teaches Italian, German and other languages on the website RadioLingua.com)

• http://www.duolingo.com.  This is an app you can download (we have it our our iPads) to learn Spanish or other languages.  Lots of various lesson tools, fun to go through. Not boring or tedious! 

• Listen to Spanish content on jw.org, such as videos or audio readings, perhaps while you look along in English. That will help familiarize you with Spanish sounds and words. 

These are just a few of hundreds of websites and podcasts that are available to help you learn Spanish.  Let me know if you have some favorites. 

In addition, there are Spanish schools here that will help you learn Spanish once you get here.  A lot of foreigners come here to immerse themselves in Spanish and to learn for a few months!
