The day after we got here, we were asked if we might be willing to have a couple stay with us. They were visiting here from Scotland. We said, sure! So that's the way we got to know Andrew and Sarah. They were friends with Mark and Allison Cooney in Scotland. Andrew and Sarah were looking for a place to have a nice vacation while also getting to know the friends and go in service as well. and Mark and Allison recommended Panajachel. Andrew and Sarah were a great a lot of fun! Sarah is from Germany but also lived in the US in Missouri for a time. And you'd better believe we watched World Cup soccer while they were here! We hope they'll be back.

Just a few days after we got back home, we traveled to El Salvador for a special assembly day, in Santa Ana. It is about a six-hour drive. To do that, we took a shuttle on Saturday, attended the event on Sunday, and then came home on Monday. It was a great program!

When we got back, Andrew and Sarah went to a hotel, the Utz Jay, and they stayed another week and a half. We enjoyed having them over to dinner, going out in service with them, and just hanging out.
That next weekend, we hosted a congregation get together at our house, with a barbecue and lots of yummy food. We were welcoming a few new families here, the Welkers (Daryl, Terri and Richard, a/k/a Rue) and the Harrisons (Mike and Mellanie, and adult daughter Morgan) and the Harrison's newly married daughter and her husband Ashlie and Austin Van Norman. Harrison's were here last year, and decided to sell their house etc and come down... and the Welkers decided to join them in moving here. So... Welcome, all!

That same weekend, we had a VERY special visitors, the Mussers, who came down with their adult grandson and his wife. The Mussers were down here in Guatemala helping build Kingdom Halls 35+ (?) years ago in the middle of the Guatemala 'civil war', for about six years if I remember correctly. He is now 92 and has such wonderful memories of Guatemala. It was a high point of his life, and though he now is back in Kansas City, he treasures these memories. It makes me appreciate that, even if one day we need to move back, we will have such wonderful experiences to treasure in our hearts here.
As John gave the talk here, he started out by trying to tell the congregation about how much he loves Guatemala, but he repeatedly got choked up. We were so moved by his visit and his love.

A few days later, our very dear friends, the Santizos, arrived for a stay of about a week. They are the reason we're in Guatemala instead of Peru... we visited them and fell in love with this place and the people. Now, almost two years later, we're so happy to be here and so grateful for our friendship with this wonderful family. We had a great time during their visit - though they were all sick, and we took it easy, and I was also getting sick. We had a great time just visiting with them, like family.

So, now we're just getting back into a routine, and it feels great.
