On Day Five of our Scotland Adventure, Mark and Alison Cooney drove us to
Inveraray and up by and to the tip of
Loch (Lake) Lomond.
The first stop was a place called "
Rest and Be Thankful". It is the peak where those driving cattle, once they finally reached the peak, they would, well, 'rest and be thankful'. After resting, they would continue driving the cattle back down the other side. It's a great view! It had an interesting monument stone that may not be readable but looked interesting!

Next, we stopped at Inveraray, Argyll.
We ate at
The George Hotel there. It was very historic! Built in 1770. I had haggis, and it was actually pretty tasty! Kind of like a ground beef dish, along with "neeps" (turnips) and "tatties" (potatoes). Bill had a yummy steak pie.

This was interesting - place names were rendered in Gaelic (in yellow) and regular Scottish/English in white. I'd say "English" but Lochgilphead doesn't look very English to this American!
Finally, we drove to the far (north) end of Loch Lomond and had some wine at the
Tayvallich Inn on the porch. We enjoyed the sun and conversation!
As we doubled back home, we stopped for a picture at Inverary Castle - otherwise known as "Shrimpy's House" for you fans of Downton Abbey!
As they were bringing us home, we stopped for a take-out curry... and I have new respect for Alison and Mark! Eeks it was hot! Other than a rumbly stomach, we slept well!
