Scotland! Travel and Day One

We were thrilled to be able to plan a two-week trip to Scotland immediately following our circuit assembly in El Salvador. I'll post some pictures here.

All ready to go, after getting up at 3AM in Guatemala City for the 6AM flight.

On the plane, quite a way to go! After leaving Guatemala, we made connections in Houston, then New Jersey, then a seven-hour flight to Glasgow.

 Here's the weather in Scotland  (from the plane) - overcast and rainy as usual!

We arrived at 7:30 AM Glasgow time (which is about midnight in Guatemala). We both slept a bit on the plane. We had a mostly quiet day, then went to the meeting in the evening where Mark and Alison were interviewed about their experiences in Guatemala. 

We are visiting Mark and Alison Cooney, who have been serving in Panajachel for about a year. They are so dear to us! And Alison's parents are on holiday, so they invited us to stay in their 'flat' - on the tenth floor of a high-rise with a nice view of Glasgow! When we got there, we found this precious photo of Mark and Alison. 

This bird caught our eyes for its striking coloring. We are told it's a magpie! We thought it was pretty, though locals don't love them so much. They're bullies at feeding stations, like grackles in the states.
