Scotland - some observations

First, when it rains, Scotland is cold. Wet. Blustery. And it rains a lot.

But, the last three days have been glorious, sunny, perfect days! And people here appreciate it and get out in the parks.

Second, Glasgow is a beautiful, historic city with so much culture, as well as the areas outside of Glasgow. We are SO impressed, and we are already eager to come back!

Third, there are jokes about Scottish people being ... tight-fisted. Let's just say it, cheap. That's the joke. BUT, our experience has been quite the opposite. We have found these people to be gracious, generous, KIND, thoughtful, and helpful in so many ways.

We have been invited to stay in the flat (apartment) of a lovely couple. We have been invited to dinners. No one wants us to pay for anything - we must be American-style-pushy to do anything! We feel so welcome, so at-home here.

And the warmth in the congregation is amazing. There are young and old here, there is a Russian group hosted in this congregation. There is a sister from Zimbabwe (Beatrice) - and so many more lovely friends. What a fantastic group of warm, loving, inviting friends. And people in the streets and shops are also nice - it's a city, so they're busy and not used to greeting people like we do in Guatemala, but they are friendly and kind.

We absolutely are loving our visit to Scotland. We can't wait to come back to see more.
