Athens

We were arriving in Athens on a Sunday. We decided we'd love to meet some of our brothers, so we arranged to go to a meeting of Jehovah's witnesses. We looked at jw.org, and looked up the meeting (About Us, then Meetings).  We chose an English meeting, and took a taxi.  

We had such a great time meeting the dear friends.  It happened to be the visit of the circuit overseer!  So we got to hear the talk again, "God is Greater Than Our Hearts", filled with comforting scriptures for those who suffer from depression.  Loved it!  

Everyone was so warm and friendly!  It was a very international congregation, with friends from Greece, obviously, but also Africa, Asia, Europe, and more. It was so heartwarming to get to know friends from all over the world!  It totally out-did any tour or sight-seeing we might have done!

Theo (below) kindly volunteered to show us around a bit.  His wife was in London awaiting their new grandchild. It was so lovely to get to know him and we were so grateful for his time!

We had such a nice time getting to know our dear brothers and sisters who are there in Athens!  It was much better than the tours offered by the ship!
